JOHN SEXTON INSTALLED AS 15TH PRESIDENT OF NEW YORK UNIVERSITY Mayor Bloomberg and Dozens of University Leaders From Around the World To Join Ceremony for New NYU President WHAT: John Sexton will be installed as NYU’s 15th president in its 171 year history. Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York City, will participate in the ceremony, which will include dozens of university presidents from around the world and hundreds of NYU faculty in full academic regalia.
In addition, the noted mathematician David McLaughlin will be installed as the University’s provost during the ceremony.
The ceremony will be followed in the early afternoon by an academic symposium which will include Dr. Sexton; Lee Bollinger, the president of Columbia University; and NYU faculty and students.
WHEN: Thursday, September 26, 2002, 10:15 am
WHERE: NYU’s Bobst Library, 70 Washington Square South (corner of Washington Square South and LaGuardia Place), in the Atrium
