NYU and Community Board 2 to Host The 12th Annual Greenwich Village Children’s Halloween Parade

WHAT: New York University and Manhattan Community Board 2 will host hundreds of children, moms and dads at the 12th Annual Greenwich Village Children’s Halloween Parade. Led by the NYU Pipes and Drums bagpipe brigade, children and families will march around Washington Square Park. Following the parade, the children will be treated to candy, face-painting, and live entertainment.

WHO: Parade Grand Marshals will be: Dr. J.J. Jackson, Associate Provost, NYU; William Castro, Manhattan Borough Commissioner, Department of Parks and Recreation; Asst. Chief Michael Esposito, commanding officer, Patrol Borough Manhattan South

WHEN: Wednesday, October 31, 2001; parade starts at 3:30 pm; marchers start gathering at 3:00 pm

WHERE: The parade assembles along Washington Square North, near the Arch.

The parade provides very good, cute, daylight shots of kids in costumes parading around the park accompanied by parents. Good complement for coverage of the adult parade.

NYU students volunteer to assist with distributing treats and performing, including NYU music groups, cheerleaders and dance teams.

The parade is organized and conducted in cooperation with the Department of Parks and Recreation, McDonald’s Restaurants of Greenwich Village, the Village Alliance BID, the NoHo BID, the Washington Square Association, K-Mart, and the Village Halloween Parade.
