Student Government Committees are where the majority of our work gets completed. Our committees tackle agenda items ranging from solving university transportation issues to planning NYU's official spirit week, Violet 100.

Academic Affairs Committee
The committee considers all matters concerning academically-related support services and programs provided by the university to students. After a careful review of such problems and issues, the committee makes recommendations concerning policy, services, and short/long-range plans.

Committee Work
Designed as a trouble-shooting committee, it handles (but is not limited to) topics such as Bobst Library, student/faculty relations, registration, classroom facilities, computer services, and the academic calendar.
All-University Events Committee
The All-University Events committee is a committee of the Student Government Assembly. The committee is responsible for hosting programs and events for the whole university.

Committee Work
Major events include Violet 100 week, NYU birthday party, and any other programs that cater to the whole student body, including students in the Abu Dhabi and Shanghai portal campuses and other study-away sites. Given the potential scale of the events, this committee works closely with the Public Relations committee to help facilitate outreach.
Alumni Relations Committee
The committee may consider issues concerning the relationship between current students and alumni.

Committee Work
The committee is dedicated to improving the relationship between NYU alumni and students by fostering increased interaction, assisting in the planning of key events (Dinner with 6, Alumni Day, Violet 100, etc.), and establishing a strong connection with NYU's Alumni Association and their various committees.
Conference and Initiative Fund Committee
The committee shall consider any application for academic, leadership, and/or other other conferences for the professional advancement of NYU students.

Committee Work
The committee reviews applications for conference funding that are submitted on a rolling basis during the academic year and decides how much to award each recipient. At the end of the year, the committee hosts a colloquium for all award recipients, members of student government, and university administration.
Diversity Committee
The Diversity Committee shall serve as the link of all student diversity initiatives at NYU. The Diversity Committee shall be chaired by the Director of Diversity.
Membership
The membership of the committee will include all Senators at-Large, representatives from minority and marginalized communities across NYU (including cultural, religious, LGBTQ+, feminist, activist, and undocumented communities), as well as any other interested students.

Work will include centralizing the diversity efforts among school councils and writing public statements and resolutions on issues identified by the committee.
Elections Commission
The Elections Commission is responsible for all matters pertaining to the All-University Election period, where officers for each school and representative councils are elected.

Membership is appointed by Student Government Executive Committee.

Committee Work
Responsibilities of the Commission include creating the schedule for the All-University Election period and managing the voting process, publicizing the events, and ensuring each individual school council or representative council has the resources it needs to conduct successful elections. Please note that no member of the Commission may participate in the All-University Elections cycle as a candidate for the year they serve on the Commission.
Financial Affairs Committee
The Financial Affairs Committee considers all matters concerning NYU affordability and the University’s budget as it relates to student life.

Committee Work
The committee examines and discusses the current budget allocation of the University and finds specific, tangible ways to make NYU more affordable. The agenda items include increasing financial transparency and the dissemination of information about university finances. The committee will also work with representatives from the Office of the Senior Vice President of Student Affairs, the Office of Financial Aid, the Office of the Bursar, and other appropriate departments to advance a student-focused agenda on issues of affordability.
Health and Wellness
The Health and Wellness committee considers all matters concerning the health and wellness of students at NYU. The committee will serve as an advocate for the student interest in the creation and implementation of health policy at NYU.

Committee Work
The committee will work with the administration of the Student Health Center to discuss student concerns with health policy and programs and provide the student perspective on that office’s efforts. The committee will also ensure an open dialogue with students on matters concerning both physical and mental health at NYU.
International Student Affairs
The International Student Affairs Committee considers all matters concerning NYU’s international students in NYC and at NYU’s global sites. The International Student Affairs committee will be chaired by an individual who is in and of this community.

Committee Work
Topics under the committee's scope include, but are not limited to, affordability; diversity, equity and inclusion; and transparency. The committee will work closely with the office of Global Services and the International Student Council.
Organization and Governance
The Organization and Governance committee shall review the organizational policies of university student government and make recommendations regarding student governance.
Membership
Membership shall be limited to five students, three members of the Student Senators Council and two members of Presidents Council.

Committee Work
This committee reviews proposals to amend the bylaws of the SSC, SGA, Presidents Council or any of its sub-committees. The committee is also charged with interpreting the bylaws of the SSC, Presidents Council and SGA.
Public Relations Committee
The Public Relations committee is in charge of promoting the works of the University Senate and Student Government to the student body, and creating and distributing all official publications between Student Government and the community. The Public Relations committee will be chaired by the Director of Communications

The work of the committee includes Campaigns, responsible for strategically amplifying the voice of Student Government; Creative, responsible for all media (photography and videography) and graphics; Digital, responsible for the website, monthly newsletter and the Blog; and Social Media, responsible for Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram and Snapchat.
Global Site Ambassador Committee
The Global Site Ambassador Committee is in charge of selecting, receiving feedback from, and responding to feedback from site ambassadors in NYU’s global sites.

Committee Work
The committee maintains communication with site ambassadors year-round and ensures the feedback is resolved by committees with the SSC or the Office of Global Programs. Site Ambassadors are also in charge of programming for their respective sites, and the Site Ambassadors committee will work with the All-University Events committee to coordinate programming on a global scale.
Graduate and Master's Student Issues Committee
The Graduate and Master's Student Issues Committee investigates, review, and recommends responses concerning the most urgent matters affecting the welfare and interests of the graduate student body at NYU, including but not limited to Masters students, doctoral students, professional degree students, and other post-baccalaureate degree students.

Membership is open to all interested graduate, masters, professional, and doctoral students.

The 2023-2024 AY, the Committee will be charged with investigating principally the issue of affordability for masters students.
Student Services & Student Success Committee
The Student Services Committee considers non-academic matters relating to the general well-being and comfort of students at NYU. After a careful review of current problems and issues, the committee makes recommendations to the Student Government concerning policy, services, and short/long-range plans.

Committee Work
The work of the committee includes: a Campus Services, which will work with various offices to better NYU Classes, bookstore, dining, Kimmel, and Skirball services; Housing; and Wasserman and People Link. The committee also works closely on matters related to student success, including the development of strategic initiatives to enhance student retention, graduation, and the overall student experience at the university. Students on the committee work closely with the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Assistant Vice President for Student Success to help combat issues surrounding student success at the university.
Student Technology
The Student Technology Committee considers all student-related technology issues at NYU. The committee will propose and implement policy that will help the student experience relating to technology.

Membership consists of all interested students.

Committee Work
The committee will work closely with ITS and the Chief Information Officer on enhancing student experience through the incorporation of different technologies. The committee will work on issues including, but not limited to, cyber security, NYU softwares/online platforms, and other technological hardwares (e.g. 3D-printing).
Sustainability
The Student Sustainability Committee shall consider matters relating to sustainability and environmental justice related concerns both as it relates to the body and the wider NYU community.

Committee Work
The Committee will work with Student Government and the Office of sustainability to interrogate “how we can individually and collectively support academic excellence while making our university, and the world, a more sustainable place.” After a careful review of current problems and issues, the committee may make recommendations to the SGA and the Office of Sustainability concerning policy, services, and short/long-range plans.
University-Wide Committees
Members of Student Government also serve on a number of University-Wide committees through the Senate, University Departments, and other university organizations. Membership is appointed by the Student Government Assembly Executive Committee. Comittees include, but not limited to:
