Professional Development
What we do
The Professional Development Committee helps newly hired administrators acclimate to NYU, fosters cross-school collaborations, and provides developmental opportunities for all NYU administrators. We conduct a voluntary peer mentoring program and more in cooperation with existing University resources.

Resume Refreshers
Do you need to refresh or update your resume? Want some specific feedback from career professionals at NYU? The Professional Development Committee, in partnership with the Office of Talent, Learning, and Organizational Development and the Wasserman Center for Career Development, holds Resume Refresher sessions throughout the year. Interested participants register for 20 minute sessions to work with a career professional to help craft a compelling, confident resume.
Networking Events
Professional networking events are a great way to meet fellow administrators from across the university. We hold various networking events, including speed networking and virtual networking, throughout the year. Check the AMC Events Calendar for upcoming PD events!
Work Hack Series
The Work Hack series has featured short, snackable showcases to help you work smarter and do more with less. Each event was facilitated by a fellow administrator and participants leave with tangible ideas to implement.
About the Program
With hundreds of graduates, the AMC Mentoring Program is winding up its eighth year and seeks continued engagement and participation. The goal of the program is to support the mentees with pursuing professional development goals and fostering a sense of community. Full-time administrators (including deans), and union staff are welcome and encouraged to apply as either a mentee or a mentor. The program begins in September and continues through May, with a graduation celebration held in June.
Accepted applicants are formally paired for the academic year based on responses submitted via the AMC Mentoring Program application. Pairs are determined by stated needs and not by title or rank. Each pair determines the cadence and structure of their meetings, but the goals for the year are set by the mentee. Monthly newsletters and various workshops are offered to participants during the academic year.
The application window for the 2023-2024 academic year has closed.
Be a Mentor
The AMC Mentoring Program is open to all full-time NYU employees.
Due to the popularity of our program, we are often in need of additional mentors. We are looking for administrators at all levels who are interested in giving back to the NYU community by participating in the program as a mentor. If you have questions about what it takes to be a mentor, check out our mentoring guide (Google Doc).
