Our NYU

A Note from President Hamilton

You made it! Congratulations on surviving finals! I had my own cram session of sorts: every year, I attend as many commencement ceremonies as possible, and this year I made it to 20. It’s great fun to “perform” at some of the hallowed New York City venues our graduates assemble in each year: Madison Square Garden, the Barclays Center, Radio City Music Hall... and, of course, Yankee Stadium.

There is nothing more rewarding to me as NYU’s president than feeling the exuberance in the air when our nearly 18,000 graduating students receive their degrees. All of the hard work, dedication, and late nights studying lead up to the glorious moment when students gather with their loved ones to celebrate their achievements and become NYU alumni. It is also bittersweet to bid farewell to students who have made NYU their home. Of course, we hope that graduates will come back to visit and stay in touch with our alumni network around the globe even as they go off to create new lives after graduation.

I hope you’ll enjoy this selection of photo highlights from graduation ceremonies far and wide—in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Abu Dhabi, Shanghai, and the Bronx. Whether you’ll return to the University in the fall or are a newly minted alum about to explore a world of possibilities, I wish you all a safe and happy summer.
