Locations and Licensing: FAQ

Unfortunately, no. NYU is unable to sign any outside agreements. Rather, we will provide completed agreements for locations and trademark use rights.

NYU requires that the University be named as an additional insured on your policy, and that proof of coverage be provided prior to filming. 

Your coverage must include (at minimum):

• Commercial General Liability Insurance with a combined personal injury (including death) and property damage limit of at least $3,000,000 per occurrence, including Contractual Liability Insurance for all liability you assume.
• Workers’ Compensation Insurance as required by New York State law or any other applicable law or laws for all your employees engaged in work at University facilities (such Workers’ Compensation Insurance shall include Employer’s Liability Insurance in a limit of at least $500,000 per occurrence for all such employees not otherwise protected by the Workers’ Compensation Insurance).
• Automobile Liability Insurance with a combined personal injury (including death) and property damage limit of at least $2,000,000 per occurrence for all owned, non-owned, leased, and hired vehicles you use at or in connection with your use of University facilities or of any adjacent or contiguous property.

To protect the safety and privacy of our students, filming is generally not permitted in any of our residence halls unless express permission from the Office of Residential Life and Housing Service has been granted in advance.

A number of factors go into the pricing of any given project filming on our campus, including its size and complexity, and to what degree it might disrupt classes and other normal campus activities.
