Tracey Gardner

Deputy Chief of Staff to the President

Tracey Gardner is Deputy Chief of Staff in the President’s Office. Her responsibilities include facilitating progress on university-wide strategic initiatives; serving as a liaison to various campus constituencies and units; and supportingthe President, Chief of Staff, and senior University leadership on a range of issues.

Tracey returned to NYU from the New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD), where she was Special Advisor in the Commissioner's Office. In this role, Tracey led key special initiatives to help meet the goals of Housing New York, Mayor de Blasio's plan to build or preserve 200,000 units of affordable housing over a 10-year period. Prior to working at HPD, Tracey was Chief of Staff and Assistant Dean for External Affairs at NYU's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, where she partnered with the Dean, senior leadership, and faculty to set strategy, manage, and promote the school.

Tracey earned a BA in English from Wesleyan University and a Master of Public Administration from NYU Wagner.
