Amalia Velazquez
Amalia Velazquez is the Program Administrator for the Work Life office. Prior to joining the Work Life team, Amalia worked as a kindergarten teacher for five years. Amalia enjoyed being an advocate for students and families. She developed a true passion for diversity, equity, inclusion, and ability in this role. She included this work in her practice as an educator and her relationships with colleagues and administrators.
Amalia also worked as a seasonal administrator at Columbia University’s pre-college programs for 7 years. During her time at Columbia, Amalia contributed in various areas, such as event execution, operations, staff training, and residential life.
Amalia graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood & Childhood Education. During her time at New Paltz, Amalia worked as a residential advisor where she was a resource to students on campus. She also conducted research in child development and play. Amalia enjoys going on hikes, reading, and walks with her dog.
She feels very passionate about work-life balance and advocacy and she is excited to continue her work at NYU’s Work Life office!
