Vaccination and Uploading Requirements for All Members of the NYU Community
This week, NYU announced that it is requiring all employees — faculty, administrators, and staff — to be vaccinated and to upload proof of vaccination by August 1, 2021. The University previously communicated its requirement for students to be vaccinated; students must upload proof of vaccination by July 19, 2021.
Because each upload has to be individually validated, uploading sooner rather than later is a help. You don’t have to wait until the deadline and you don’t have to wait for two weeks after your final dose — you can upload your proof of vaccination right after you have received your final dose (eg: after your first dose of Johnson & Johnson or after your second dose of Pfizer or Moderna). Please note: you will need to be fully vaccinated (meaning two weeks have passed since your final vaccine dose) for the Daily Screener to reflect your status as vaccinated.
A high rate of vaccination is vital to our community’s health, to easing restrictions, to resuming pre-COVID activities, and to our health and safety planning. Like many of the practices we undertook this year — mask-wearing, physical distancing, frequent testing — getting vaccinated is part of the responsibility we have to our fellow NYU community members and to keeping each other safe.
Additional information about a process for seeking exemptions from vaccinating for reasons such as qualifying medical conditions or religious beliefs will come soon.
Vaccination Guidance for Students Outside the US
On the heels of the announcement of the requirement for students to be vaccinated, the University also sent a communication providing guidance to students outside the US.
Moving the BioReference Testing Center from West 4th Street to 18 Cooper Square
As of next Monday, June 21, the BioReference testing site that has been operating at the Bonomi Family Admissions Center, 27 West 4th Street, will relocate to 18 Cooper Square.
In addition to the BioReference testing center at 18 Cooper Square, we will continue to have pick-up and drop-off locations for Binx tests (saliva tests) in both Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Returning to In-Person Duties, and Seeking Accommodations
As we look toward the fall, we want to remind all employees (including faculty and non-faculty employees) with medical conditions that they may contact the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) to request accommodations as part of the process of returning to in-person duties. To contact the OEO, call 212-998-2370 or email oeo.accommodation@nyu.edu.
Changes to the Daily Screener
On June 7, we made changes to the Daily Screener. If you are fully vaccinated, have uploaded proof of your vaccination, and had it validated, the Daily Screener now takes account of your status, and you are no longer required to test regularly in order to get a “green screen” to access NYU buildings.
Additional changes to the Daily Screener process may be coming, depending on guidance from New York State. Please keep an eye out for communications about any additional changes.
