Re: Severe Weather and Class Attendance
When severe weather threatens to disrupt University operations, we issue advisories to the University community with information about closings and other changes, post timely information on NYU’s Info Alert page, and establish a banner on NYU’s website.
As recently happened, in the event of a severe weather event, the University will likely move in-person teaching temporarily to an online format, rather than canceling classes. In such cases, all classes would be expected to take place at their scheduled times; the only difference being that in-person class sessions would be held online until students are notified otherwise.
For all other weather-related scenarios, we rely on the good judgment of faculty and students to come up with common-sense solutions. This is also in keeping with the enhanced flexibility that the University has adopted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
If you have any concerns, please consult with your Dean or department chair.
