Dr. Jason Pina was named Senior Vice President for University Life in July 2023, after previous service as Vice President for University Life and Global Engagement and NYU's Chief Strategy Officer for Global Programs and University Life. Prior to NYU, he served as Vice President for Student Affairs at Ohio University, Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Bridgewater State University, and Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students at University of Rhode Island.
With a long-standing history of providing noteworthy initiatives in student affairs, IDBE (inclusion, diversity, belonging, and equity), student services, enrollment management and student success, Dr. Pina works with colleagues to provide strategic leadership to both NYU’s Division of Student Affairs and NYU’s 12 global sites. For more than 25 years, he has collaborated with faculty, professional, and student colleagues to improve campus environments and student life.

A leading voice on leadership and diversity in Student Affairs, Dr. Pina has been recognized for his work by Diverse Issues in Higher Education, Insight into Diversity, EverFi, and NASPA. He has contributed to several publications, including most recently AVP: Leading from the Unique Role of Associate/Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and the ACPA/NASPA Professional Competencies and Rubrics. Dr. Pina also served as a member of the NASPA Board of Directors between 2017 and 2020, and chaired the NASPA Annual Conferences in 2019 and 2020.
Dr. Pina holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Occidental College; a master's and an educational specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado; and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Johnson & Wales University.
