Melissa Carter

Senior Director and Head of Mindfulness Education and Programs, Global Spiritual Life

Melissa Carter is the Senior Director for Global Spiritual Life at New York University and the Head of Mindfulness Education and Programming for MindfulNYU, as well as an Adjunct Professor for the Silver School of Social Work. Since transitioning from a career in the music industry, Melissa has spent over a decade educating on the intersection of spirituality, social justice, and mindfulness, as well as belonging, self-care, and emotional intelligence as a path to liberation. She holds a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from the University of South Florida, an MBA in Media Management from the Metropolitan College of New York, and is currently a doctoral candidate in the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development program in Higher Education Administration with a focus on Chaplaincy and Campus Religious Life.
