Shizhu Liu is Clinical Assistant Professor of Mathematics. She received her B.S. in Economics from Zhejiang University, her M.A. in Applied Economics from Georgetown University, and her Ph.D. from NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
Liu’s research interests include convex geometry, information theory, analytic inequalities, and probability.
Prior to her current appointment, Liu was Adjunct Instructor of Mathematics at NYU Tandon, where she also served as the Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies from 2016-2017.
Charmaine Sia is Clinical Assistant Professor of Mathematics. She received her B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Ph.D. from Harvard University.
Sia’s research interests include algebraic topology, homotopy theory, the theory of topological modular forms, structured ring spectra, and forms of K-theory.
Prior to joining NYU, Sia was the Zorn Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mathematics at Indiana University Bloomington. In 2010 she was named a co-winner of the Alice T. Schafer Prize for Excellence in Mathematics by An Undergraduate Woman from the Association for Women in Mathematics.
