Crafting Your Advising Philosophy on Wednesday, October 11, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in Kimmel E & L. The session will be facilitated by Devon Pryor, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at NYU Tisch and part-time faculty member in the Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) Program at NYU Steinhardt. Devon teaches Topics in Higher Education: Undergraduate Advising and he will leverage course content to guide participants in designing their own advising philosophy—possibly for the first time or to refresh previous advising conceptions. Advising philosophies are useful tools in guiding your practice and professional development steps that keep your work interesting and current. This event is being offered in-person and virtually.

Supporting Students with Mental Health Concerns and Taking Care of Yourself in the Process on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 9:30 - 12:45 p.m. This program featured Zoe Ragouzeos, Ph.D., LCSW Senior Associate Vice President, Student Mental Health and Sexual Misconduct Support and Executive Director, Counseling and Wellness Services.
All members of our advising community interact with students who raise issues of mental health and wellbeing at one time or another. This program teaches staff how to recognize a student who may have a mental health concern, how to respond when an issue is raised, and how to get students the help that they need. A discussion of how to take care of yourself while taking care of others is also offered along with a thorough review of mental health services available at NYU and in our local community.
