Lina Janas
Lina Janas serves as the Director, Academic Initiatives in the Office of the Provost (within the Office of Academic Program Review & Assessment) at New York University (NYU). In this role, she manages and implements University-wide academic projects sponsored by the Vice Provost and provides strategic leadership, operational, analytical, and research support to the Vice Provost for maintaining ongoing University-wide academic initiatives and institutional accreditation. Lina plays a pivotal leadership role across all areas of the Vice Provost's portfolio, including doctoral affairs, non-credit offerings, academic program review & assessment, accreditation, curriculum management, clinical deans, and other special projects.
Lina’s experience includes serving as the NYU Office of the Provost’s Program Director, Academic Compliance & Accreditation, and as NYU’s Multi-State Authorization Compliance Officer. In these roles, she oversaw and managed NYU’s University-wide compliance for all out-of-state, domestic activities (e.g., online courses/programs, internships, faculty/staff residence, field trips, etc.) and provided significant insight and direction for NYU’s University-wide institutional accreditation efforts.
Lina came to the Office of the Provost from NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing (NYU Meyers) where she developed her interest and knowledge of regulatory environments and project management. Lina managed substantive curricular change proposals and fundamental projects. These included the 2017 NYU Meyers decennial accreditation self-study and the cyclical accreditation midterm review of academic programs, and the designation as a National League for Nursing Center of Excellence in Nursing Education. Prior to NYU, Lina worked in the legal profession spearheading the expansion of legal networks and portfolios across the US and Canada for American Recovery Service, Inc. (ARSI), which serves Fortune 100 and 500 companies in portfolio management, risk management, and various legal collection and litigation services; where she aided in the development of proprietary software that tracked lawsuit data and trends.
Lina holds a master's in Management and Systems with a concentration in Database Technologies with distinction from New York University, a baccalaureate degree in History of Art from University of California, Berkeley and a Post-Baccalaureate certificate in Visual Arts from UC Berkeley Extension with distinction. While Lina manages her own personal fine art practice, she also has a strong interest in information technology and data analysis.
