Tatiana Shapiro
Assistant Compliance Officer and Export Control Specialist
Tatiana Shapiro joined the Office of Compliance and Risk Management (OCRM) in January 2019 to oversee the University’s Export Compliance Program. Tatiana holds nationally recognized certifications as an Export Compliance Professional (ECoP®) from the Export Compliance Training Institute in both the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Prior to joining OCRM, Tatiana worked as an Assistant Contract Officer at the NYU Office of Sponsored Programs, negotiating and executing various types of agreements governing nonprofit sponsored research activity comprising about 50% of domestic and foreign NYU schools, including negotiation of export control provisions and providing advice and counseling on research export compliance to administrative and academic staff. Before NYU, Tatiana worked as an export compliance and contract manager in the semiconductor industry, developing and managing export compliance programs and negotiating contracts for nonprofit and commercial organizations.
