Erum Raza is Deputy Chief Global Compliance Officer and Counsel at New York University (NYU). Her responsibilities include leadership and oversight of NYU’s global compliance and ethics program, including, NYU’s campuses in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai, as well as the global academic sites. Erum is also responsible for a select portfolio of legal matters in the Office of General Counsel.

Erum served as the Chief Compliance and Risk Officer of NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) for seven academic years, where her responsibilities included the design, development, and implementation of NYUAD's Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Business Continuity Programs before she transitioned to her current role in NYU's Global Office of Ethics and Compliance. Erum also served as NYU's Acting Chief Global Compliance Officer from 2020-2022.    

Erum has guest lectured at NYU Stern, NYU Abu Dhabi, and NYU Shanghai on various topics, including, ethics, labor and economics, leadership, business and human rights, social responsibility, and international business law. 

Prior to joining NYU in 2013, Erum was a management consultant at Deloitte Middle East in Dubai and Abu Dhabi where she advised public and private entities from across the Middle East and North Africa on corporate governance, compliance, and enterprise risk management. Erum was also a corporate associate at Fox Rothschild, LLP in Princeton and a senior tax associate at Arthur Andersen, LLP in New York.

Erum received her JD from Rutgers School of Law in Newark in 2005, and her BS in Accounting and Political Science from Rutgers College and the School of Business at Rutgers University, in New Brunswick in 1999.  Erum is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey. She is also a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional and a Certified Public Accountant.
