Dan received his J.D. from Fordham University’s School of Law, he received his B.S. from New York University in History & Communications, and he received his M.A. from Columbia University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in American Studies.

Immediately before joining NYU in 2015, Dan was an associate in the Labor & Employment Law Department at Proskauer and Co-Chair of the firm's Hiring & Background Checks Group. While at Proskauer, Dan drafted congressional testimony, contributed to several books, was quoted in U.S. Supreme Court briefing papers, penned commentaries for law/HR journals and major media outlets (including the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Star Ledger, Record, and Bloomberg), and otherwise authored and was cited in hundreds of articles.

In the course of his legal career, Dan has been named one of the Top 50 "New Leaders of the Bar" by the New Jersey Law Journal, a “Rising Star” by New Jersey Super Lawyers, a "Top Author" by JD Supra, and an "Above and Beyond Partner" by NYU HR. The Animal Legal Defense Fund, Proskauer, and the Empire State Counsel also have recognized his contributions to pro bono.

Dan has spoken at conferences and seminars on employment law, and has been a recurring Guest Lecturer at NYU Steinhardt for the graduate-level course, Higher Education and the Law. Prior to his legal career, Dan served as an Adjunct Professor of History at William Paterson University and Bergen Community College.
