TO:  NYU ADMINISTRATORS AND STAFF
FROM: President Andrew Hamilton, Provost Katherine Fleming, and EVP Martin Dorph

Dear Administrator and Staff Colleagues,

You are always there for NYU.

When the chips are down, when there is a tough task that needs to be done quickly and well, when there's a need for volunteers to make a day more special for students or to make families feel more welcome, our administrators and staff are always there. When people use the phrase "bleeds violet" -- the highest compliment that can be accorded a University citizen -- they're usually referring to an NYU administrator or staff.

In the last few weeks, you have had to take on Herculean efforts. You have had to provide the infrastructure for remotely held classes on a previously unimagined scale. You have had to help students rapidly move out from residence halls in the middle of a semester. And you have had to move our administrative and business operations to a telework environment in a handful of days and not miss a beat. You have done all this modesty, selflessly, and superbly.

As we resume classes today following spring break, we want you to know that we recognize your dedication and all that you have done and all you continue to do. NYU is steadier, safer, more secure, and better prepared for whatever comes, thanks to you.

You have our deepest thanks and respect.
