To:       The Honorable Kathy Hochul, Governor of New York State
From:  NYU President Linda G. Mills and Senior Vice President for University Life Jason B. Pina

Dear Governor Hochul,

We are aware that you are looking to understand how universities would respond to an incident in which a member of our community called for a genocide of the Jewish people.

NYU does not tolerate calling for the death of any person or group of people. Any such call on our campus would violate our long-established rules on nondiscrimination and anti-harassment, and would subject those involved to our disciplinary procedures. Over one month ago, we reminded our community of these rules and our commitment to enforcing them in line with our 10-point plan to address the safety and well-being of our community, and we did so again earlier this week. We have recently updated our community on our enforcement efforts, including that we have reviewed or are currently reviewing allegations involving over 60 students and have imposed suspensions and other discipline on a number of them.

NYU is fully committed to providing an environment where our students can live and learn in peace, and where threats, harassment, intimidation, and violence have no place.

Sincerely,

President Linda G. Mills

Senior Vice President for University Life Jason B. Pina
