Neil Dworkin (Wagner '86, '89)
"Having attended NYU and being part of NYU Loyal as a supporter of Wagner, faculty, and a quality education has been my privilege."
With over thirty years of teaching in healthcare administration at Western Connecticut State University, Neil credits his professional success to his NYU experience. Neil earned his Ph.D. in health policy from Wagner in 1989, recalling his graduation and defending his dissertation on physician membership on hospital governing boards as the most meaningful achievement in his life.
NYU marked a turning point in Neil's career from being a healthcare administrator in a nursing home and hospital to becoming a lifelong educator and academic. As a former student of Professor Anthony Kovner, Professor Emeritus of Public and Health Management, formerly Program Director, Neil reflects on the lasting impact of having received the support of faculty and mentors.
To top off Neil's transformational NYU experience and accomplishments, he even "accidentally" earned his MPA as well in the process of completing his Ph.D.!
