Non-NYU Students
Individuals who are not currently pursuing a degree at NYU may register for winter courses if the criteria below are met. Once you have determined whether you are eligible to register, please submit the Winter Session Registration Form.
If you do not meet these criteria and have questions about whether you may still participate, please contact the Winter Session Admissions Office, 212-998-4570.
Eligibility
High School Diploma
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent prior January 2, 2008 to participate in Winter Session.
Freshman, Transfer, Graduate Degree Applicants
If you applied for an NYU degree program beginning in fall 2007 or plan to apply to begin spring 2008, as either a freshman, transfer, or graduate student, you may not be eligible to register for Winter Session. Decisions rendered by the appropriate admissions office will determine eligibility for Winter registration.
Students who are admitted to a degree program to begin spring 2008 and plan to accept the offer of admission must contact the appropriate admissions office. Then contact their designated NYU adviser for clearance to register and follow guidelines above for Current NYU Students.
Students not granted admission to an NYU degree program may be restricted from winter registration. Once a registration form is submitted, permission to enroll will determined on a case-by-case basis.
Non-U.S. Citizens
NYU does not issue I-20 forms or student visas in the winter since Winter Session courses do not constitute a full course of study. Therefore, you must already hold or be able to acquire a visa that will allow you to take courses in the United States. Please contact the US Consulate in your home country for additional information. Unfortunately, due to tighter restrictions, some foreign students may not be able to obtain the necessary visa to attend NYU winter courses.
Classes are taught in English; it is essential that students understand and be able to communicate in English. (Students who wish to come to NYU to improve their mastery of English during the summer should contact the American Language Institute, 212-998-7040.)
