Below is information about orientation resources and events for all students who will be joining us on campus this winter. Students are encouraged to watch the online orientation, download and read the Student Handbook, and watch the walking tour video as they prepare for the start of the term! We also hope to see you at the January Term Check-In after you arrive!

This orientation highlights information available in the January Term Student Handbook. It includes important dates and deadlines for the term, a list of what you need to do prior to the start of class, information about academic advising and resources on campus, and more! The orientation is approximately 14 minutes long, and all students should watch it at least once prior to the first day of class.

The Handbook is your guide to January Term. All students are encouraged to download the Handbook and use it as a reference prior to and during January Term. It contains everything you need to know about January Term from dates and deadlines to academic policies and procedures, from housing and dining to New York City transportation, from resources available on campus to events you can take advantage of at NYU and in New York City in January.

January Term Check-In
Monday, January 7-Friday, January 11, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Academic Resource Center, 18 Washington Place
Stop by the Academic Resource Center during the first week of class to get information about campus, resources and services available during January Term, and ask any questions you may have about January Term or NYU.
International Student Check-In (Mandatory for all international students)
When: Friday, January 11 at 6:00 p.m.
Where: Silver Center, 100 Washington Square East, Room 405
Bring: I-20, I-94 card, passport and emergency contact info both in US and abroad.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security requires all new international students with a J-1 or F-1 visa to report their arrival at NYU to the Office of International Students and Scholars. OISS will host a check-in to help you meet this requirement. All international students must attend. Failure to check-in may jeopardize your ability to legally remain in the United States. Information about the mandatory check-in is online at the OISS website.
