Financial Aid
Financial aid is available for eligible NYU and visiting undergraduates. NYU students should visit the Financial Aid website and look for the January Term FA form. Visiting students should indicate an interest in FA on their application and they will be sent the correct link.
Housing
January Term housing is available from Sunday, January 6, 2013 through Saturday, January 26, 2013.
NYU Students living in university housing (with a Fall 2012 and/or Spring 2013 housing license) will be able to stay on campus. Please see housing section of this website for specific details.
NYU students who do not have a Fall 2012 or Spring 2013 NYU Housing license and are registered for January Term classes can complete the January Term Housing Application through their NYU home account (click on the ‘NYU Life’ tab, then on ‘NYU Housing and Meal Plan Forms’).
Visiting Students enrolled in January Term coursework are eligible to live in NYU Housing.
Visiting students interested in NYU January Term housing should indicate their interest in housing on the January Term 2013 online registration form, which will be available October 2012. Once the registration form is submitted, you will be emailed instructions to complete the online housing application.
Please note that available spaces are likely to be in shared bedrooms within apartments that have been occupied by residents for several months prior to your arrival. To help you get acquainted with your temporary roommate, you’ll receive his or her email address as soon as your housing assignment has been made. Since January Term takes place during the intersession between Fall and Spring sessions, your NYU roommate may be away for this period, or may come and go from his/her NYU Residence assignment for periods of varying length.
January Term housing is being coordinated by the Office of Residential Life and Housing Services. Questions related to housing can be directed via email to housing.january.term@nyu.edu, or by phone to 212-998-4600. In accordance with applicable local, state, and federal disability laws, NYU will endeavor to provide reasonable accommodations for any applicant with a qualifying special need.
Eligibility
NYU students are eligible to enroll in January Term courses. There is no separate admissions application.
Visiting students who have a high school diploma or equivalent prior to January 7, 2013 and who have met course specific prerequisites will be eligible to register.
The 2014 January Term visiting student application will be available on October 1, 2013.
Freshman, Transfer, Graduate Degree Applicants
If you applied for an NYU degree program beginning in Fall 2012 or plan to apply to begin in Spring 2013, as either a freshman, transfer, or graduate student, you may not be eligible to register for January Term. Decisions rendered by the appropriate admissions office will determine eligibility for registration. Be sure to indicate this on your registration form.
Students who are admitted to a degree program to begin Spring 2013 are not eligible for January Term.
Students not granted admission to an NYU degree program may be restricted from January Term registration. Once a registration form is submitted, permission to enroll will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
