Adding A Search to Your SiteSince 2002, NYU has used the Google Search Appliance to handle searching on the nyu.edu domain. Google's indexing robot starts at the top of the NYU Web site and follows links to find all indexable pages within the NYU search collection. There is no need to submit pages to the index: the Google crawler will pick up changed, new, and removed pages automatically during its scheduled crawls. However, if you would like to create a custom search for your individual site content, you can add a search box to your own site. Add a Search Box and Results PageGoogle allows us to offer customized search result pages through the use of style sheets. There are two options for your search result pages; you can either use the default NYU search results page (as in the results displayed using the main NYU Search, or you can customize the search results so that they have the existing look and feel of your Web site.
