Emergency Alert System Implementation
As a joint initiative with NYU’s Office of Public Safety, Public Affairs and ITS, Campus Cable will activate a national level Emergency Alert System (EAS) for NYU’s Campus Cable and Broadband networks. This technology will transmit national & federal generated alerts similar to what you hear on your local broadcast radio, TV or commercial cable TV systems. Any TV set in a residence hall, office, classroom or large flat panel display in public areas that is connected to the NYU Campus Cable or Broadband networks will receive these national alerts regardless of what channel they are tuned to as long as the set is powered on. As mandated by the FCC, when installing these kinds of systems, a simple 5 second test will be required monthly.
Don't forget to watch NYU-TV on Campus Cable.
