University Presidential Transition Team | About

President-designate John Sexton, following discussions with Martin Lipton, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and current President L. Jay Oliva, formed a University Presidential Transition Team in the summer of 2001. The charge of the transition team is to provide a sound factual basis for assessment and to develop strategies that will help NYU move firmly into the top tier of universities by identifying and pursuing opportunities to achieve excellence. To that end, the process began with a vision of how the University can and should flourish as a leader in research, ideas, scholarship, and teaching. Throughout the year, the transition team has and continues to involve a broad spectrum of the University community in the process and serve as an advisory body to help the President-designate to evaluate the community's views and aspirations.
