Unseen Cinema: Early American Avant-Garde Film, 1894-1941
October 15–16, 2005
As part of the release of the DVD "Unseen Cinema: Early American Avant-Garde Film 1894-1941", the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens will have a series of screenings beginning at 2pm Saturday, and a panel discussion (with clips) at 4pm Saturday. Co-sponsored by the MIAP program.

Afterwards, you are invitated to attend an event in the Cinema Studies Department on media and film as part of the NYU interdepartmental conference: "Feeding Frenzy: The Media, Arts, Cultures and Performances of Eating."

UNESCO World Day for Audiovisual Heritage

In celebration of the World Day, New York University's Moving Image Archiving and Preservation Program and NYU Libraries are proud to present a showcase of recently acquired archival footage from the Tamiment Library's Communist Party USA Collection. Heralded by the New York Times, this body of films and newsreels represents an opportunity to "revise assumptions on both the left and right about one of the most contentious subjects in American history." This screening will offer the first glimpse into a landmark collection currently being processed for access.
