Sarah Wilson, BFA 2000
Sarah Wilson was awarded the department’s 2000 Daniel Rosenberg Travel Fellowship to document her mother’s birthplace, the town of Jennings, Louisiana, and its surrounding county of Jefferson Davis Parish. Wilson has collaborated with Ricardo Ainslie, PhD., a writer and professor of clinical psychology to complete Jasper, Texas: The Healing of a Community in Crisis, a photographic exhibition spotlighting the church leaders and other citizens who were instrumental in dealing with the racial issues following the dragging death of James Byrd, Jr. in the summer of 1998. This traveling exhibition is supported in part by the Texas Council for the Humanities, the University of Texas at Austin, the Trull Foundation, and the Cartright Foundation. Her work has appeared in two recent issues of Texas Monthly. She currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.
