Studio Theatre

The Studio Theatre is the fourth of the theatres in the Drama Department. It is a 39 seat black-box theatre that is reconfigured for every production.

This space is used primarily for student directing projects. These curricular productions traditionally are 15 to 45 minute one-act plays, directed by Playwrights Horizons Theatre School students and designed by Tech Track Students. These projects are the natural offshoots of the Director-Designer Collaboration classes.

This theatre is also used for the Tech Track light lab projects throughout the year.

Access to the theatre is from the left hand elevators in the main lobby of 721 Broadway.

The Studio Theatre is equipped with an ETC Express 24/48 computer lighting console, 24 dimmers, in a "dimmer-per-circuit" configuration and a lighting inventory of about 60 units. The sound system consists of a fairly traditional mixer-amplifier-speaker arrangement with cassette and CD players.

The theatre space is roughly 19' wide by 38' deep with a 11'-6" lighting grid overhead.
