Scene Shop
The scene shop is located on the first floor of 721 Broadway, actually at the corner
of Mercer and Waverly on the back of the Tisch building. It has street access, which
is very important and lots of natural light which makes it great to work here.
Although it's not a huge space by professional standards, it does the job. It is fully equipped with a full range of wood and metal working tools, most of which are equipped with casters in order to move them out of the way when the floor space is needed.
In addition to the main floor, there is a separate loft for the prop department, a spray area for painting and separate paint shop.
Storage of reusable scenery is provided adjacent to the Burrows Theatre and props are stored in the subbasement. The Shop is overseen by Leighton Mitchell, the Technical Director and run by Nichôl Hignite, the Shop Supervisor.
There are two Graduate Assistants who run the Prop Department and a graduate Scenic Artist and Master Carpenter. In addition, there are six work-study students who work in the Shop
