Frederick Loewe Theatre
The Loewe Theatre is the second largest of the four theatres in the Drama Department. It is a 72 seat black-box theatre that has permanent seating and is considered an "End Stage" performance space.The Drama Department typically will produce two scene festivals in the Loewe and The Experimental Theatre Wing (an acting studio within the the Drama Department) will normally produce four or five projects in this space.
Access to the theatre is from the left hand elevators in the main lobby of 721 Broadway or by using the Paulette Goddard Staircase near the rear of the lobby.
The Loewe Theatre is equipped with computerized lighting, an ETC Express 250 lighting control console, 60 dimmers, and a lighting inventory of about 125 units including ETC SourceFour Lekos and PARS. The sound system consists of a Mac computer running Q-Lab as well as CD players and cassette machines.
The playing space is roughly 25' wide by 50' deep with a 12' lighting grid overhead.
The typical production in the Loewe Theatre has a medium sized cast.
