To complete the six semester studio training requirement, the majority of third and fourth year
Tech Track Students will participate in the internship program, an Advanced Training option in
the Drama Department. These professional New York internships are
individually selected based upon the student's interest. It is the expectation that,
during their internship experience, the students will begin to synthesize their NYU
training in order to define their own style.
Third year students are welcome to choose an additional focus area within Tech Track
and/or continue with specific instructors in advanced study.
In addition to internship, studio and academic courses, third year students are
expected to participate in two student directing projects each semester. This
requirement is intended to provide experience working in a collaborative process
with peers as designers, directors and actors. The Production Experience is very
important to the training of our students and there is ample opportunity to experiment
with many types of production during the four years at Tisch.
Tech track students have also transitioned to the advanced transfer tracks of the
Drama Department's acting studios, studied abroad, and created specialized programs
with other Tisch Departments such as Film and Photography. For a few exceptional and focused
individuals the path may lead to the Tisch Graduate Design Department for intensive
and specialized training. These students now have the skills, techniques, maturity
and experience to succeed in that highly charged atmosphere.
