Instructor: Lenore Doxsee
In Advanced Lighting Design, students complete a thorough design process that results in a finished design including all supporting paperwork, shop rental, and cue synopsis. The goal of this project is to prepare the student to design in a professional setting. Students will be given budgets and deadlines that simulate real-world design scenarios. Most class meetings will be one-on-one with the instructor acting as Director or Production Electrician or Producer as the student works through and presents each step of the project. Other lighting professionals will also offer critique of the final project. In addition, weekly class meetings will offer a forum for individual feedback on the student’s independent projects and designs. In the second semester of Advanced Lighting, students may design their own curriculum to focus on whatever area of lighting they wish to study further. Students will determine their individual projects and goals in consultation with the instructor.
