What types of tickets can I purchase online?
Many of Ticket Central's most popular theater, music, and sporting event specials are offered online. In addition, tickets to select NYU events on sale at the Ticket Central box office will be available for purchase online.
Why aren’t all of Ticket Central’s offerings available for purchase online?
Items such as discount movie passes and vouchers will not be available for purchase online due the fact that the service charges associated with using TicketWeb’s services would, in many cases, negate the discount of purchasing the passes/vouchers in the first place.
If tickets to an NYU event are available at the Ticket Central box office and not online, it is because the event organizers requested this.
Not all of Ticket Central’s Weekly Specials will be offered online. However, we will try to include our most popular offerings in our online specials.
Where can I find a list of tickets being offered for sale on TicketWeb?
Weekly Specials: Tickets for weekly specials go on sale on the date and time specified on our Weekly Specials web page.
NYU Events: The Ticket Central Calendar has the most up-to-date information on campus events being ticketing through Ticket Central.
How long are tickets available for purchase on Ticketweb?
The frame of time to purchase tickets through Ticketweb varies depending on the specific show or event.
Weekly Specials: Due to the popularity of many of our specials, tickets tend to sell out very quickly – sometimes within 10-15 minutes of the on-sale time. Tickets will remain available on TicketWeb until they sell out or until 10am the following day. Additional tickets may be made available for purchase after this time according to availability.
NYU Events: For most events, tickets will remain available on TicketWeb until they sell out or until noon on the day of the event. Specific policies for individual events will vary. Please check the event listings on the calendar for information regarding a specific event.
If tickets are sold out on TicketWeb, does this mean that they are also sold out at the Ticket Central box office?
No. Only a portion of tickets for each Weekly Special is available for purchase online. Tickets are usually also available at the Ticket Central box office according to the schedule specified on our Weekly Specials listings. Please check for availability of tickets on this page.
Is there a service charge for purchasing tickets online?
Yes. Ticket Central chose to use TicketWeb because they leverage their unique technology to offer the most competitive service fees around.
Fees for Weekly Specials: There is a per order fee of $1.50 and a service charge of 14.5% of the face value of each ticket, with a minimum of $1.50 per ticket and a maximum of $3.00 per ticket.
For example, on an order of two $20 sporting event tickets, the service charge for each ticket would be 14.5% of $20, which is $2.90. The total service charge for the order would be $1.50 + $2.90 + $2.90 = $7.30, bringing the total order to $47.30.
On an order of 2 $30 theatre tickets, the per ticket service charge would be $3.00, since that is the maximum per ticket charge. Thus, the total service charge for this order would be $1.50 + $3.00 + $3.00 = $7.50, bringing the total order to $67.50.
Finally, on an order of 2 $7 NYU event tickets, the per ticket service charge would be $1.50, since that is the minimum per ticket charge. Thus, the total service charge for this order would be $1.50 + $1.50 + $1.50 = $4.50, bringing the total order to $18.50.
Fees for NYU Events: There is a service charge of $1.50 for all tickets with a face value of less than $10.00, and a service charge $2.00 for all tickets with a face value of $10 - $15. For more expensive events, the tickets fees are equivalient to the fees listed under Weekly Specials, above.
Why must I pay a service charge when I purchase tickets online?
The services charges incurred when purchasing tickets online are set and collected by TicketWeb. They reflect the cost of providing the online ticketing service to you. The service charges collected by TicketWeb are the same for NYU Ticket Central as they are for the countless other venues in NYC and around the country that use their services. Ticket Central cannot waive or reduce these charges.
How can I avoid these service charges?
If the tickets you are wishing to purchase are available for sale at our box office, you can buy them there without incurring a service charge. Please note that not all tickets are sold at the box office.
If I purchase tickets online, where do I get my ticket(s)?
Weekly Specials tickets purchased online must be picked up at the Ticket Central box office – not at the show’s venue!
