Off Broadway Discounts

If Ticket Central is not offering a discount on the show you want to see, there are other resources avilable to help you.

TDF Vouchers

TDF Vouchers give you access to a wealth of off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway shows. You choose which theaters and productions you wish to support. The voucher is an open ticket of admission good for a year from the date of purchase, at the discretion of participating theaters. The price per voucher is $9.50.

To find out if a show you want to see is accepting TDF Vouchers: Visit www.tdf.org and search for the show on the site. If TDF Vouchers are accepted for the show, information will be available to the right of the calendar of performances.

To find a list of all shows accepting the TDF Voucher: Visit www.tdf.org and select "Vouchers" from the show search pull-down menu on the top left corner of the page.

To get tickets to a show with a TDF Voucher, first buy the voucher(s) (one for each person in your party) at Ticket Central. Then, on the day of the performance you want to see, call the theater's box office to check availability. The phone number is provided on the TDF website. The box office will let you know if you will be able to exchange your vouchers for tickets for that day/evening.

Papering Services

If you enjoy going to Off-Broadway shows and usually do so several times a year, it may pay to join a papering service.

A papering service is a company which makes available complimentary tickets to its members, who pay a membership fee of usually between $50 - $100 per year. In addition to a membership fee, there is usually a $3 - $5 per ticket handling fee each time a member uses the service. Otherwise, there is no charge for the tickets.

Papering services usually offer its members complimentary tickets when a performance or event is in previews, under publicized, expecting the attendance of reviewers or celebrities, or would like the benefits of a full house. Performances range from previews to opening nights to performances throughout a show’s run.

Ticket Central recommends the following two services - in part because they offer discounts on memberships to the NYU community. Some of Ticket Central’s staff belong to these services and have seen some really great shows on the cheap!

Visit each company's website to find out more about joining the service and a list of shows that each has offered to its members in the past
