Mission

The full Task Force is a university advisory body made up of approximately 60 members, which is tasked with developing recommendations for new policies and practices that improve NYU's environmental performance and foster a campus culture of sustainability.

Task force chart

The Task Force represents key university constituencies, including graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, administrators, staff, and alumni; representatives from nine NYU colleges; and leaders from student clubs, administrative departments, and university governance bodies.

Working Groups

The Task Force is co-chaired by Lynne P. Brown, Senior Vice President for University Relations and Public Affairs, and Alison Leary, Senior Vice President for Operations. A Project Administrator, Jeremy Friedman, works closely with its membership and working groups to coordinate efforts and accomplish goals.

History and Archives

The Task Force was established in October 2006, when Executive Vice President Michael Alfano announced the launch of a university-wide initiative that also included the creation of the Sustainability Fund and the largest purchase of wind energy by a US university.
