About the NYU Bike Share

The NYU Bike Share provides free short-term bicycle rentals to NYU students, faculty, and staff. The program was proposed and developed by a student-led Green Grant team, with funding, organizational and planning support from the NYU Office of Sustainability. It's founded on the idea that bicycling can be a safe, healthy, sustainable, and fun way to get around New York City. The Bike Share seeks to lower the barriers to entry (such as cost and inexperience) that prospective cyclists face at NYU.

The Bike Share launched during Summer 2010. Because of its wide success and student demand, the program expanded to 75 bikes in spring 2012 and will continue to grow as it become a larger force on campus.

As a Bike Share participant, you can display your NYU ID card to check out one of our lightweight Worksman Cycles or Biria cruiser bikes from one of several convenient locations on campus, ride as much as you want, and drop the bike off at any other open location the same day.

To enroll in the program and gain access to unlimited bike rental you must first attend a regularly-scheduled Bike Share safety training workshop and sign a liability waiver. But it's fast and easy. You'll be on one of our bikes in no time!
