Living in NYU Housing

Staffing

Full and part-time personnel from four departments work together to provide service and assistance to residents of NYU Housing.

The Department of Housing is responsible for the administrative operation of each residence hall. A full-time Residence Hall Operations Manager works in each residence hall and oversees all administrative operations including managing occupancy, mail delivery and desk operations. Full-time support staff and specially trained student workers assist the Residence Hall Operations Manager with the daily operation of the residence hall.

The Department of Facilities and Construction Management (FCM) is responsible for the operation and maintenance of NYU buildings and systems. On-site personnel work closely with the Department of Housing to ensure timely response to maintenance problems and concerns.

The Department of Residential Education is responsible for community development, policy enforcement, and crisis response within each residence hall. A full-time Community Development Educator, assisted by a staff of specially trained student Resident Assistants, works in each residence hall.

The Department of Public Safety is responsible for the maintenance of safety and security in all New York University facilities. A Public Safety Officer is assigned to each residence hall lobby 24 hours a day.
