Getting Your Nyu Card
The NYUCard is a multipurpose photo identification card used by all residents at New York University. You are required to get an NYUCard within four days after your scheduled arrival date. This will identify you as a member of the NYU community and should be carried at all times.
Each confirmation packet includes detailed information about electronically sending in a photo in advance of your arrival on campus, so that an NYUCard can be generated before your scheduled check-in. A copy of this information sheet can be found online here.
The NYUCard will allow you access to:
- Your residence hall
- Campus transportation
- Bobst Library (if you are classified as a student and currently enrolled in classes)
- NYU athletic facilities
- NYU dining facilities (when applicable)
Residents who submitted their photograph electronically prior to the beginning of their reservation must go to the NYU Public Safety Substation, located in the Palladium residence hall, at 133 East 13th Street, between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm, seven days a week, to pick up their NYUCard. Residents must provide a valid photo ID to be issued their NYUCard.
Please note: Electronically submitted photos will not be accepted from former residents who have not turned in their NYUCards prior to their reservation. A $15.00 replacement fee will be charged for cards not turned in.
Residents who did not submit their photograph prior to their arrival will be issued a temporary identification card upon check-in. This temporary identification card will only allow the resident access into their residence hall. Residents are required to obtain their NYUCard within four days after their scheduled arrival date.
The NYUCard Center is located at 7 East 12th Street (between University Place and Fifth Avenue) and is open Monday - Thursday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, and Friday, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. The NYUCard Center will be closed on weekends and holidays. For additional information regarding NYUCard, please call 212-443-CARD.
Once you have obtained your NYUCard, please go to the reception desk or your residence hall office to obtain a hall validation sticker. This sticker will have an expiration date (your scheduled date of check-out) printed on it.
Note: Spring semester residents must receive a hall validation sticker for the summer term.
