Getting Your NYUCard
The NYUCard is a multipurpose photo identification card used by all residents of NYU Housing. You are required to get an NYUCard within four days after your scheduled arrival date. This will identify you as a member of the NYU community and should be carried at all times.
Each confirmation packet includes detailed information about electronically sending in a photo in advance of your arrival on campus, allowing your NYUCard to be generated before your scheduled check-in. A copy of this information sheet can be found online here.
The NYUCard will allow you access to:
- Your assigned residence hall
- Bobst Library (if you are classified as a student and currently enrolled in classes)
- NYU athletic facilities
- NYU dining facilities (when applicable)
Residents who submitted their photograph electronically prior to the beginning of their reservation:
If you submitted your photo by email as directed, please report to the NYU Public Safety Substation, located in the Palladium residence hall, at 133 East 13th Street, to pick up your NYUCard. You must present a valid photo ID. The Public Safety Substation is open daily from 3:00 pm until 7:00 am. When the substation is closed, the Public Safety Officer in the lobby will be able to issue your NYUCard to you.
Residents who did not submit their photograph prior to their check-in:
If you did not submit a photo by email, you will be issued a temporary identification card when you check-in to your residence hall. This temporary identification card will only you access into your residence hall. Residents are required to obtain their NYUCard within four days after their scheduled arrival date.
The NYUCard Center is located at 7 East 12th Street (between University Place and Fifth Avenue) and is open Monday - Thursday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, and Friday, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. The NYUCard Center is closed on weekends and holidays. For additional information regarding NYUCard, please call 212-443-CARD.
Once you have obtained your NYUCard, please go to the reception desk or your residence hall office to obtain a hall validation sticker. This sticker will have an expiration date (your scheduled date of check-out) printed on it.
Please note: Electronically submitted photos will not be accepted from former residents who have not turned in their NYUCard from previous affiliation with the University. A $15.00 replacement fee will be charged for cards not turned in.
