Check-In Information

What to Expect

Check-in begins at 9:00 AM on the Sunday of the week that your reservation begins (with the exception of the first check-in of Monday, May 27). Earlier check-in times are not available.

To check in, go directly to your assigned residence hall. Once there, you will be directed to the Resource Center, where you will be asked to show photo identification and will be issued your room keys and check-in information packet.

If you do not already have an NYUCard, a temporary ID will be issued that will allow you to access your residence hall for 72 hours. All summer residents must obtain their NYUCard within 72 hours of their reservation start date.

Reservations are held until the Thursday following your Sunday check-in date. If you fail to check in by Thursday or provide notification to Summer Housing that your arrival date has changed, your reservation will be cancelled with a $500 penalty.

Getting Your NYUCard

The NYUCard is a multipurpose photo identification card used by all residents of NYU Housing. You are required to obtain your NYUCard within 72 hours of your initial arrival on campus.

Your NYUCard will identify you as a member of the NYU community and should be carried at all times.

Detailed information about electronically sending in a photo in advance of your arrival on campus is emailed to residents who have a confirmed Summer Housing assignment. This will allow your NYUCard to be generated before your scheduled check-in.

The NYUCard will allow you access to:
  • Your assigned residence hall
  • Bobst Library (if you are classified as a student and currently enrolled in classes)
  • NYU athletic facilities
  • NYU dining facilities (when applicable)
Residents who submitted their photograph electronically prior to the beginning of their reservation and check-in on Sunday, can pick up their NYUCard at:
NYUCard Center
383 Lafayette Street
New York, NY 10003

NYUCard Center Pick Up ONLY Hours:

Monday, May 27th (Memorial Day): 8:30am - 4:00pm
Sundays, June 2 - July 28: 8:30am - 4:00pm

Residents who did not submit their photograph prior to their check-in:

If you did not submit a photo by email, you will be issued a temporary identification card when you check-in to your residence hall. This temporary identification card will only allow you access into your residence hall for 72 hours from the official start of your reservation.

Within 72 hours, please go to the NYUCard Center, located at 383 Lafayette Street. The NYUCard Center hours are:

Monday: 8:00am - 6:00pm
Tues - Thurs: 10:00am - 6:00pm
Friday: 9:00am - 3:00pm

Once you have obtained your NYUCard, please go to your Residence Hall Resource Center to obtain a hall validation sticker. This sticker will have an expiration date (your scheduled date of check-out) printed on it.

Please note: Electronically submitted photos will not be accepted from former residents who have not turned in their NYUCard from previous affiliation with the University. A $15.00 replacement fee will be charged for cards not turned in.

Residence Hall Orientation

During this 30 minute presentation, we will provide an overview about living in NYU Housing; including services available, residence hall staffing, and important policies and procedures. This is a great way to better acquaint yourself with summer living at NYU.

Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
