Program Overview

Eligibility

Living in NYU Summer Housing does not require enrollment at NYU; however, priority is given to applications from academic year NYU students and applicants registered for credit and non-credit summer courses at NYU.

Applications from individuals that are not enrolled for summer coursework at NYU are not guaranteed housing and these applications are accepted based upon availability. For this reason, we strongly recommend that non-NYU, non-enrolled applications apply as early as possible.

All applicants must be at least 18 years of age on the date their reservation is scheduled to begin and may be asked to provide proof of age.

Accommodations

NYU summer housing has two types of residence halls: traditional (no kitchen, meal plan required) and apartment-style (shared kitchen, meal plan optional). Most of our accommodations are shared bedrooms (shared bedroom in multi-bedroom suite), although, there are a limited number of single bedrooms (private bedroom in multi-bedroom suite) available.

Most residence halls are air-conditioned. Brittany & Rubin Halls are non-air conditioned and have a reduced weekly rate. Residents of non-air-conditioned rooms are not permitted to bring air-conditioners, although fans are permitted.

All bedrooms and suites are single sex, but floors and halls are co-ed. There are bathrooms in every suite.

Residence halls are furnished. Residents should bring their own bed linen (long twin), pillows, towels, and desk lamp. Residents are not allowed to bring in outside furniture. For a complete list of items residents are not permitted to bring, check here.

Application

Your son or daughter should apply through their NYU Home account and submit their application electronically (click here to be connected to the section "Apply for Summer Housing").

Applicants are asked to indicate their dates of stay, and are allowed to list up to seven residence hall and room-type choices. Applicants can also list up to two roommate requests. Although we cannot guarantee roommate pairs, we do our best to accommodate these kinds of requests.

Deposit Payment

A $500 initial payment must accompany submission of the summer housing application. Payment can be made on-line by electronic check (using account and routing numbers from a blank check) through NYU eSuite or by mailing a check or money order to the Office of Residential Life & Housing Services.

For more information about submitting a deposit payment, please view the information available here.

NYU does not accept credit card payments.
