How to Apply

 

When applying, it is important that you familiarize yourself with the types of accommodations we offer, as well as our policies and procedures regarding initial payment, and canceling your reservation. As part of your application, you will be required to review and agree to the terms and conditions of the 2018 Summer Housing License.

Please note that once an application is complete, it will take approximately 2 weeks to process.

As of July 19, 2018, we are no longer accepting applications for NYU Summer Housing for Summer 2018.

1. NYU Global Home Account Registration

Non-NYU Applicants

As of July 19, 2018, we are no longer accepting applications for NYU Summer Housing for Summer 2018.

Current NYU Students & Enrolled Applicants

Current NYU students do not need to register for NYUHome accounts. Applicants enrolled in courses at NYU should receive NYU ID numbers and NYU Global Home access through their enrollment process.

If you are enrolled in a non-credit NYU SPS course this summer and have a problem accessing the NYU Summer Housing application, please email our office at housing@nyu.edu.

2. Apply Online

 

Availability:

The application for Summer 2018 is no longer available.

To access the application:

  • Login to your NYUHome with your Net ID and password.
  • In the search box in the upper-right, search for Housing Forms. When the card comes up, click the "GO" button.
  • This will bring you to the NYU Housing Portal. Locate ‘Summer in New York City’ and click "ACCESS APPLICATION".
  • Please complete each step of the application carefully and follow all instructions.

Applicants will provide affiliation information, reservation dates, residence hall preferences, and roommate/suitemate requests on the application. Applicants will be required to submit at least two building preferences.

3. Application Reservation Payment

Applicants are required to submit a $500 reservation payment with their application for Summer Housing.

The $500 reservation payment will be credited to the applicant’s account and will count towards overall summer housing costs. Please note, all requests to cancel NYU Summer Housing are subject to a cancellation fee.

Applicants may submit payment online or by mailing in a check or money order. Applications are not complete until payment is received.

Reservation Payment Options

Option 1: Online via Deposit (recommended):

  • Login to NYU Global Home with your Net ID and password
  • Click the ACADEMICS tab
  • Click ALBERT LOGIN
  • Click the NYU Housing Payments link
  • Click the Continue to eSuite link
  • Click the Deposits tab at the top of the page and follow the directions.
  • Please make sure to select the term summer 2018 and select Summer Housing Deposit.

Please note, the checking account must be from a US based bank that allows ACH transactions (ACH is an electronic network for financial transactions in the US). Applicants must provide their checking account number as well as their bank’s routing number (both of these numbers can be found on a blank check).

Please note that upon entering payment, your checking account will be debited for the payment amount. If NYU Summer Housing is unable to offer housing, the payment will be fully refunded.

 

Option 2: Payment by Mail

Applicants who wish to pay by money order or who would prefer to pay with a standard bank check may submit payment by mail.

Payments by mail must be received by NYU Summer Housing within one week of application completion. Checks or money orders must be made payable to “New York University.”

Please download the payment form, attach your check or money order to the form, and return the documents to the mailing address listed on the form.

Option 3: Payment for International Applicants

Please note, applications are not considered complete until payment is received.

NYU does not accept credit card payments.

Reasonable Accommodation Requests

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, New York University will provide reasonable accommodations for an individual eligible to reside in University housing who has a qualifying physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, has a record of such an impairment or is regarded as having such an impairment.

For information about submitting a reasonable housing accommodation application, please visit the NYU Moses Center for Students with Disabilities website.

The deadline for summer residents with a confirmed reservation to submit documentation to the Moses Center is March 30, 2018. Documentation submitted after this date will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Applicants Under 18

Applicants under the age of 18 are eligible to apply provided they will be actively participating in an NYU sponsored high school program during their residency. For more information about these programs, please visit our High School Programs website.

At a later time, depending on the programmatic affiliation, applicants under 18 may be contacted to submit a consent form completed by a parent or guardian.
