NYU Steinhardt offers a variety of residential summer programs designed for high school students interested in Art, Music, and Theater to expand their skills and liberate their imaginations. Students stay in NYU housing with 24-hour security and spend their days in intensive, individualized classes.

• Intensive Three-Week String Quartet Workshop, July 2 - July 20, 2012. Coaching and private lessons with NYU's acclaimed faculty and master classes with distinguished guest artists, culminating in weekly public concerts. Ages 15 and older.

• Summer Institute of Music Technology, July 2 – July 14, 2012. Hosted by NYU's Music Technology program, students learn the fundamentals of music technology through class lectures, labs, and individualized studio time.

• Summer on Broadway: Music Theatre Workshop, July 2 - July 19, 2012. Acting, dance, and voice workshop, with music theatre professionals, culminating in a fully staged "showcase". Ages 16 and older. Applicants must have completed their junior year of high school.

• Looking for Shakespeare, June 28 - July 22, 2012. Graduate student-teachers lead an ensemble to create and perform an original adaptation of a Shakespearean play. Ages 13 to 18.

• Music Business Summer Institute: What Makes a Star?, June 25 - June 29, 2012 or July 9 - July 13, 2012. Spend time in New York City learning from professional star makers in the music business. Meet people who play different roles in making a star: performer, A&R scout, producer, record label executive, and manager. Applicants must have finished their junior year of high school and be 16 years or older by June 27, 2011.

• Broadway Percussion Seminar/Summit, June 17 - 21, 2012. An intensive study of the skills and know-how needed in the world of Broadway percussion. Broadway preparation sessions on: drumset, percussion mallets, timpani and synthesizer presented by the original musicians who "created the book".
