Tuition Remission

Children and spouses of NYU employees are sometimes eligible to receive tuition remission. This benefit covers the cost of tuition only--you still must pay the registration fees, University services fee, and any other course-specific fees that may apply. As an NYU employee, you should first consult with your Human Resources representative to determine whether your family members qualify for remission. If so, you will need to follow the steps below:

  1. Complete all sections of the registration form, except for the fee calculation portion.
  2. To determine the amount of fees due, calculate the number of points or credits the course(s) is worth times the $58/pt. registration fee, e.g. a 4-pt. course is 4 X $58 = $232. You must also add $5 per point for courses held in the College of Arts and Science. Write this total amount in the "Total tuition above is" field on the form. These registration fees are required of all students and are non-refundable.
  3. View the course description to see if there are any course specific fees for labs, tickets, insurance, etc. If so, total these and write the amount in the "Add other fees if applicable" field.
  4. Add the above amounts to the $260 University services fee and write the total in the "Total tuition and fees" field.
  5. Enclose payment for this total amount either by entering your credit card information or via check or money order and submit to the Office of Special Sessions. Please also attach a note indicating you will be paying via tuition remission.
  6. Once you receive notification that the registration has been completed, you must submit a letter to your HR representative from the student's home school indicating that the student is in good standing and that the school will accept credits earned at NYU. After this letter is approved by HR, the NYU employee will need to complete the online tuition remission form under the "Work" tab in NYUHome. Consult with your HR representative if you require assistance.
