Designed for ultimate ease of access by students, most of the library's more than 3 million books and journals plus microforms and other materials are located in well-lighted, air-conditioned book stacks, among which students are free to browse. BobCat, the computerized catalog located throughout Bobst and its branches, lists most of the holdings of the University libraries. Internet access to electronic databases, journals, and texts is available in Bobst Library and computers around campus.

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides technology-based services to NYU students, faculty, and the staff. The computing services, Internet access, NYU Home Service, software, student computer labs, classes, assistance, publications, and various other resources that ITS offers will help you with your course work and research projects. ITS services include the list below. NYUHome

NYUHome is a customizable portal to Web-based services and tools, which will allow you to easily access e-mail, many NYU libraries research resources, Albert, NYU Blackboard, software, news, Web forums, events, and more. NYUHome provides access to different resources through tabs and channels, and you will be able to choose which channels to display in each tab. Designed for global access, NYUHome will allow you to go "Home" no matter where you are.

Computer Labs and Instructional Facilities

ITS provides four computer labs offering high-end multimedia equipped Macintosh and Windows computers. ITS labs have all the essential software and peripherals you will need, along with high-speed Internet connections. The ITS labs are located in the Education Building (second floor), Tisch Hall (LC-8), 14 Washington Place (lower level), and Third Avenue North Residence Hall (level C-3).

Two ITS-affiliated labs are also available, the CAS Learning Center Lab in Weinstein and the Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life at 7 East 10th Street. Visit our Web site for hours and other information.

NYU's campus-wide data network, NYU-NET, links your personal computer — whether in your home or off-campus workplace — to your NYUHome portal, allowing access to these and other Internet resources. Telephone and modem ("dial-in") connections can be made from on-campus and off-campus locations. E-mail and other Internet services are available on campus from NYUHome stations, from laptop plug-in ports at Bobst Library, and from computer labs. The state-of-the-art facilities at Coles Sport Center are open to students registered for credit-bearing courses during any of the summer sessions. Your validated NYU ID card serves as your Coles membership card.

Coles Sports and Recreation Center includes the following facilities:

  • A multipurpose field house/arena with five courts, which can accommodate basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, and other activities
  • A roof with a 1/6 mile, three-lane running track plus six tennis courts
  • Five squash courts and five handball/racquetball courts
  • A natatorium with an NCAA-regulation 25-meter swimming pool, diving tank, and saunas
  • Five basketball/volleyball/tennis courts
  • Large, modern weight-training facilities containing Universal, Nautilus, Icarian, and free-weight equipment
  • An aerobic fitness room featuring stair machines, stationary bicycles, treadmills, and rowing machines
  • Rock-climbing wall
  • Individual rooms for wrestling/judo, fencing, physical fitness/calisthenics, dance, free-play activities, and exercise prescription

Classes are offered in aerobics, step aerobics, aqua aerobics, martial arts, dance, racquet sports, swimming, tennis, and others. Intramural tournaments in basketball, softball, coed volleyball, and men's and women's singles and doubles tennis are held. Special events are offered in ballroom dance and squash. A completely different work-out experience.  Featuring:

  • A 30 foot rock wall and bouldering cave.
  • A 3,140- square foot weight room with Life Fitness and Hammer Strength equipment.
  • An Aerobic Fitness Room with treadmills, step mills, ellipticals, rowing machines, recumbent bikes and a Cardio Theatre.

New York University Health Center

The New York University Health Center is a primary care unit with medical, nursing, and diagnostic laboratory facilities. In addition to the full-time staff, the Health Center staff includes specialists available for consultation, by appointment, in the areas of internal medicine, orthopedics, dermatology, gynecology, and nutrition, among others.
