Eligibility

Current NYU Students

Students who are currently matriculated in an NYU degree program are able to earn credits towards their degree through NYU Summer in Greenwich Village. NYU students should register in Albert; do not submit the Summer Sessions Registration Form.

For additional information or clearance to register, please speak with your academic adviser or department.

Non-NYU Students

Individuals who are not currently pursuing a degree at NYU may register for summer courses if the criteria below are met. Once you have determined whether you are eligible to register, please follow the Step-By-Step Instructions for submitting the Summer Sessions Registration Form.

If you do not meet these criteria and have questions about whether you may still participate, please contact the Office of Summer Sessions, 212-998-2292.

High School Diploma
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent to participate in Summer in Greenwich Village. Current high school seniors are eligible for Session II courses if they will have their diplomas before the session begins.

Current high school students who will not graduate in Spring 2008 may be eligible for one of NYU's highschool programs.

Freshman, Transfer, Graduate Degree Applicants
If you applied or plan to apply for an NYU degree program beginning in spring 2008, summer 2008, or fall 2008, as either a freshman, transfer, or graduate student, you may not be eligible to register for Summer in Greenwich Village. Decisions rendered by the admissions office will determine eligibility for summer registration.

Students who are admitted to a degree program and plan to accept the offer of admission must contact the appropriate admissions office. These students do not submit the NYU Summer Registration Form. Instead, they should contact their designated NYU adviser for clearance to register and for further instructions.

Students not granted admission to an NYU degree program may be restricted from summer registration. Once a registration form is submitted, permission to enroll will determined on a case-by-case basis.

Non-U.S. Citizens
NYU does not issue I-20 forms or student visas in the summer since summer session courses do not constitute a full course of study. Therefore, you must already hold or be able to acquire a visa that will allow you to take courses in the United States. Please contact the US Consulate in your home country for additional information. Unfortunately, due to tighter restrictions, some foreign students may not be able to obtain the necessary visa to attend NYU summer courses.

Classes are taught in English; it is essential that students understand and be able to communicate in English. (Students who wish to come to NYU to improve their mastery of English during the summer should contact the American Language Institute, 212-998-7040.)
