Application Procedure

NYU Precollege is limited to a competitive group of high school students who demonstrate that they are ready for and committed to doing college-level work. NYU Precollege admits students on a rolling basis. Students who apply early and are determined to be acceptable candidates for admission are more likely to be placed in their first choice course(s).

How to Apply:

1. Read the NYU Precollege brochure or the NYU Precollege website: Learn about the nature of the program, the supplementary features, and the courses that are available. Consider whether this is the type of program you are looking for and determine whether you are eligible to apply.

2. Complete the program application:

  • You must provide a valid email address as ALL communication regarding your application (excluding the final decision) will be done via email.
  • Indicate whether you intend to take 1 or 2 courses and list the courses that interest you in order of preference.
  • All required signatures must be provided on the application in order for you to be considered for admission.

3. Request an official copy of your high school transcript:

  • An official copy of your high school transcript should be signed and/or stamped by a school officer. Official copies of transcripts can only be provided by your school office.
  • Make sure your transcript includes all coursework beginning with 9th Grade. If you attended another institution during high school, official copies must be obtained from all high schools attended.
  • If your high school does not provide grades, you must supply written evaluations for all completed courses.

4. Ask your guidance counselor, principal, or an instructor to write a letter of recommendation:

  • Letters of recommendation cannot be written by parents, relatives, family friends, or employers.
  • Letters of recommendation should be signed by the recommender and written on school letterhead, if possible.

5. Mail your application and required materials to the Office of Summer Sessions: We will not review your application until ALL materials are received. You can mail your application and materials to:
