Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will find answers to some frequently asked questions about the Inter-Residence Hall Council.
• What is the IRHC?
In summary, the Inter-Residence Hall Council is the governing body of all the residence hall councils at New York University. Our voting body consists of the Executive Council, students who are elected to serve as officers of the IRHC, in addition to the President and IRHC representative from each residence hall. All residents are allowed and encouraged to attend IRHC meetings. You can learn more about our mission and history by clicking the “What is IRHC?” tab.
• When and where does the IRHC meet?
IRHC meetings are held on the third floor of Palladium every Tuesday at 7:30, alternating between the General Assembly (aka GA, where we conduct general business concerning all residents) and committee meetings (where small groups meet for different purposes). Any and all residents are welcome at our meetings, so stop by! You’ll learn a lot and score some free food.
• How does the IRHC affect me?
For all students at NYU, the IRHC organizes programs such as Ultra Violet Live, Elegance on the Water, Relay for Life, Midnight Breakfasts, and Welcome Week. Our events are popular for all students at the university, and our community service programs seek to improve the greater community that NYU is a part of. In addition, we sponsor other programs around campus and support all the hall councils at the university. Specific to residents, IRHC is closely involved with the improvement/creation of administrative policies concerning residential life at NYU.

You are more than welcome at any IRHC meeting, either to learn more about or to communicate with the council. If you wish to do so, it’s a good idea to contact someone from the Executive Council and explain your idea. If you are seeking a more local venue, each residence hall has its own Hall Council which you may contact as well. This contact information is listed under the “Contact Us” tab.
• I have not received my care package, who should I contact?
We are sorry that you have not received your care package. If you have questions about our vendor programs please contact Nicholas Evans, Assistant Director for Residential Leadership at ne12@nyu.edu. In your email please note your name, your student’s name, your student’s residence hall address, and a contact number where you can be reached.
