Scholarships and Financial Aid
NYU Students
NYU students who study abroad in Madrid keep all the scholarship and financial aid that they normally receive while attending NYU's Washington Square campus.
Please visit the financial aid page of our website for information on how to request additional aid for your semester abroad. All NYU students who plan to spend a fall semester studying abroad should apply for the prestigious Sir Harold Acton Undergraduate Fellowship. The deadline to apply for this
fall-only scholarship is early April.
Visiting Students
Specialized Study Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 are available to students from
a college or university other than NYU who plan to pursue advanced
studies in a variety of subject areas while studying at
NYU in Madrid. To be considered for a Madrid
visiting student scholarship please complete and submit the
application form found on the financial aid page with the
required materials once you have applied to the NYU in Madrid
program. Fall applicants will be notified via email by mid-April
and spring applicants by mid-November. If
you have a question about one of our scholarships please email
abroad.admissions@nyu.edu.
Billing
NYU’s Electronic billing system is the official means of generating tuition bills for all enrolled students. Within a few weeks of registering for classes, students (with the exception of visiting students whose home schools choose to bill them directly for their term at NYU) will receive a message at their official NYU e-mail address notifying them that a bill for tuition, and fees is available.
Figure includes tuition for full-time student stats covering 12-18 points, deposit and
required registration fees, and several program activities and
excursions. For each point taken in excess of 18 points in a semester, there is an additional charge per point.
NYU students pay their individual school tuition, which may differ for Stern and Tisch. All students (both NYU and non-NYU) are billed electronically through NYU's E-bill system. Please visit the NYU Bursar web site for details about the E-bill process.
*The rates listed are for the 2008-2009 academic year. NYU students pay their
individual school tuition, which may differ for Stern and Tisch.
**Room and board (single or double) in a private home may include two meals a day, or simply kitchen privileges (prices vary accordingly). Rent is paid in cash in euros directly to the head of the household in Madrid. Apartments range from furnished studios to furnished two-bedroom apartments. Food will amount to approximately $1,400 per semester for students who purchase their own food. Please keep in mind that the exchange rate fluctuates and that prices vary accordingly.
Assistance through one of the world's largest providers of medical and security evacuation as well as general travel aid (e.g., lost document assistance). This company provides 24-hour global services with the help of our site staff to our students abroad.
Costs include local transportation, travel, clothing, snacks, personal items, etc. In addition, student insurance (health and accident) is mandatory and will vary according to individual policies.
